The second song they parody, (I will never be the same again) they might have wanted to have read the words first. God gave that song to Geoff Bullock to confirm to him that he needed to leave the Hillsong mega Church BECAUSE of their emphasis on happy clappy prosperity nonsense and other issues. I was an acquaintance of Geoff Bullock at that time, and it saddens me to hear this song being used in this manner. Geoff has spoken out so much on this.
(ia, I don't think they were necessarily poking fun at the songs they parodied - I heard "There is a Fountain Filled with Blood" and "How Great Thou Art" in the mix. They were poking fun at the properity "gospel" message, not really the songs they used.)
Thanks for the laughs!
ReplyDeleteWhat is tragic is that if you snuck that into a TBN broadcast you'd probably get a lot of orders. Most of those shows are virtually self-parodies.
That is funny!
ReplyDeleteGolden...

ReplyDeleteBen, why are you not approving my comment?
ReplyDeleteWHOA... no way, super bad, wrong wrong wrong...

This swiftian stab may be even more effective than Piper's beautiful tirade against this sad parody of the true gospel.
