THE MAZE

VOICE ONE—THE CONSCIENCE

You don’t get there sooner

Running faster in that direction,

It only ruins your temper

Your color and complexion.

VOICE TWO—THE EMOTIONS

If you can’t remember

Whether you’ve been here before

I fear you’ll never find

The exit or the door.

VOICE THREE—THE WILL

You grow weary of the game

You grow wary of the claim

Cause all paths look the same,

And no one is to blame.

VOICE FOUR—THE MIND

Did you take the trouble

To think the path through,

Before you even started,

Before you turned blue?

VOICE ONE

Are you going round in circles,

Retracing your selections,

Has it occurred to you,

To ask for directions?

VOICE TWO

Every turn you take,

Every move you make,

Every path you forsake,

Could be a mistake.

VOICE THREE

Some are not phased

By a complex maze,

It doesn’t take days,

Or leave you amazed.

VOICE FOUR

Seeing the end from the beginning,

Shows you which way to go,

If only you’d had the foresight,

To start off quite slow.

VOICE TWO

And now it’s getting dark,

And all the noises gone,

Should I just stop and rest,

Should I be moving on?

VOICE FIVE

‘My Word is a lamp unto your feet,

And a light unto your path’

It is amazing how loud voice two sometimes can get! And then voice four steps in and screams to voice two to "Shut-up," which is scary, because voice four should be less, not more, emotional than voice two.

Without voice five, many of us would be basketcases.

  5. You are so right Jason, and its hard to get all four voices to shut up at once in order to listen to voice five.

    Blessings,
