Without question, one of my favorite bands of the 70s was Steely Dan, particularly with Michael McDonald. They have of course recently rebooted themselves. Here you will find one selection from the NY Rock and Soul Review Shows in the 90s, and more recently from my home town of Charlotte in 2006. Enjoy BW3

You have great taste in music, BWIII.
I've never liked Steely Dan. I always found their music too, well, steely. It grates on my ears.
Steely Dan's music never grows old. Though I wish, on their reunion albums, they would crank it up and boogie a little once more. But old guys like easy tempos. Katy Lied, Pretzel Logic, and Countdown to Ecstasy are absolute classics. Fagan's The Nightfly nearly counts as a Dan album; and Pat Metheny's "Girls Next Door," on the "We Live Here" album, nearly counts as a Dan song. Looking forward to catching them here in Atlanta in August.
I agree. Steely Dan has produced one of the very best catalogs of contemporary music. The Donald Fagen solo trilogy is also very fine.
I knew there was something about you I liked, Ben. I've been a lonely fan of theirs since the Royal Scam album I had in High School. And the only thing I ever liked as much was the Doobie's stuff with Michael in it. Didn't even know till later there was a connection. Apparently, Michael lives over here in Nashville, and there are reports that he is a Christian as well. Now, if we can just get those Dan boys to quit writing songs like "Godwhacker" maybe we can have some nice Jazz fusion inside the Pearly Gates ;)
